Personal Lines Manager

JOB TITLE: Personal Lines Manager

DEPARTMENT: Personal Lines

REPORTS TO:President

JOB SUMMARY:

Under direction of the President, the Personal Lines Manager is responsible for managing the Personal Lines department. General areas of responsibility include strategic growth and profitability, client management, ensuring technical and professional competence of staff, and all related administrative functions.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    1. Achieves department growth goals, to be determined annually.
    2. Achieves agency goals regarding percentage of retained business.
    3. Assist in the development of strategies to accomplish and support the personal lines department’s business plan objectives.
    4. Carry out the personal lines department’s action plan in support of achieving company objectives.
    5. Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction and customer service by improving ongoing service delivery methods.
    6. Ensure department and agency efficiency through continuous process improvement efforts.
    7. Support full and efficient utilization of automation system(s).
    8. Contributes to and maintains continuous communication to clients on new product offerings, potential changes and industry news.
    9. Reviews client feedback and develops action plan with service team to continuously improve customer satisfaction.
    10. Offer continuing service and advice to personal lines clients.
    11. Direct supervision of personal lines staff.
    12. Develop, implement, and monitor the training of the personal lines staff.
    13. Develops and maintains audit processes to ensure compliance with agency procedures and policies.
    14. Oversees education, training and development programs to increase department capability and expertise.
    15. Participate in the selection of new personal lines employees.
    16. Stay informed regarding insurance technical knowledge, market trends, agency automation, company information, and other operating techniques.
    17. Actively participate in all assigned and chaired committees.
    18. Review subordinates’ performances, conduct their formal performance appraisals, and provide regular and meaningful feedback through coaching.
    19. Assist in establishing a competitive compensation structure for personal lines staff.
    20. Contributes to policy development as needed.
    21. Other duties as may be assigned.

SKILL AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

    1. Associate or Bachelor degree or completion of an Insurance Study Program or equivalent.
    2. Appropriate Property and Casualty Agents/Brokers License in good standing.
    3. Minimum of 7 years of property and casualty insurance experience including strong knowledge of insurance terminology, concepts and coverage.
    4. Familiar with computers and agency management systems, ability to use internet and word processing programs and adapt to new software programs and changes in technology.
    5. Ability to set priorities and perform multiple tasks.
    6. Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference and apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
    7. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variable in situations and to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
    8. A strong ability to negotiate.
    9. Ability to focus on what needs to be done and accomplish accordingly.
    10. Ability to adapt to a paperless environment.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

    Employee Benefits Servicing Account Executive

    JOB TITLE: Servicing Account Executive

    DEPARTMENT:Employee Benefits

    REPORTS TO:Benefits Service Manager

    JOB SUMMARY:

    Under direction of the Benefits Service Manager, the Servicing Account Executive provides support to the Benefits Service and Sales Teams in the servicing of accounts. The Servicing Account Executive is responsible for performing duties related to account marketing, coverage and benefit evaluation on current and prospective clients and day to day servicing of benefit accounts.

    PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

      1. Provides account services associated with placing coverage; day to day servicing of accounts including quoting, binding, billing, policy checking, endorsement requests, compliance reviews, and plan audits/reviews.
      2. Coordinate and oversee set up of benefit booklets, coverage summaries, enrollment packets, total compensation summaries, etc.
      3. Work with the sales and marketing team to visit prospects, providing service support as needed.
      4. Contact clients by phone, in person or in writing to gather information necessary to the setting up, servicing and renewal of their account/policies.
      5. Work with COBRA, HRA and Cafeteria Plan (Section 125) and Captive administrators to assure that each applicable account is handled per policies and procedures.
      6. Maintain client files in the agency management system and network folders per agency procedures.
      7. Prioritizes and manages work flow on desk, ensuring all processes are addressed per policies and procedures.
      8. Act on behalf of the Account Executive/Agency as the decision maker and strategist regarding benefit directions with assigned clients.
      9. Proactively meet or contact customers by phone to plan the renewal process.
      a. Discussing changes in industry, programs, the employer and strategize regarding the implementation of the renewal enrollment.
      b. Market renewals and new accounts, including submission of applications, negotiation of terms, conditions and pricing, provide quote and rate comparisons, and provide input regarding coverage recommendations, and client meetings.
      c. Confer with Account Executives where appropriate.
      d. Work with Account Managers, Account Technicians and Account Executives to obtain necessary information to market.
      e. Work with carrier representatives to ensure the best, negotiated prices and terms on behalf of the customers.
      10. Set up and provide open enrollment meetings at employers’ offices to groups and individuals as requested. Coordinate carrier/GA support as needed.
      11. Consistently cross sell existing customers, making sure that they have all lines of business that Warren G. Bender Co. can offer, such as all benefits, business, surety and personal lines coverage. In addition, refer vendors, friends, family etc. to the various producers in each department AND maintain satisfactory department retention.
      12. Participate in one committee per fiscal year.
      13. Other duties as may be assigned

    Commercial Lines Account Executive

    JOB TITLE: Commercial Lines Account Executive

    DEPARTMENT: Commercial Lines

    REPORTS TO: Company Sales Manager

    JOB SUMMARY:

    Under direction of the Commercial Lines Sales Manager, the Commercial Lines Account Executive (commonly referred to as “Producer” in the industry) is responsible for driving new business sales revenue growth, as well as retaining assigned book of commercial lines business. A successful candidate would be an applicant that can not only pursue and close sales of new and existing commercial lines accounts, but can promote WGBCO’s public image by effectively performing the following responsibilities.

    PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

      1. Sales
      • Meet with prospective and existing clients to develop positive business relationships.
      • Maximize account growth by recommending and adding all appropriate lines of coverage to meet the clients business and risk management objectives.
      • Provide quotes and make sales appointments with prospects.
      • Work with account manager or marketing department to complete company submissions and selection of potential markets.
      • Conduct client and prospect appointments communicating proposals and renewals, explaining details and communicating desire to conduct business.
      • Develop and execute annual Account Executive sales and marketing plan.

      2. Marketing
      • With the assistance of the Brand Manager, implement email and direct mail campaigns to support company branding and prospect appointment strategy.
      • Invite prospects and current clients to webinars, seminars and other WGBCO events.

      3. Customer Service
      • Maintain data entry into EPIC daily with notes, activities, policy info, info classes and data updates following company field definitions.
      • Introduce service team to clients and request that service calls be directed to them and forward all service related calls to assigned service team.
      • Stay informed of all claims or service issues and become involved in resolution when required.
      • Participate in renewals, when appropriate, by reviewing expiration list with service person to determine appropriate action and collection of information to prepare renewal submissions.

      4. Community Outreach
      • Be a visible leader in an industry and actively participate in industry associations, organizations, boards and charities, as appropriate.
      • Be a spokesperson for Warren G. Bender Co. and our positive position in the risk management industry.

      5. Insurance Knowledge
      • Participate in on-going staff and sales meetings as directed.
      • Maintain knowledge of commercial lines carrier products and services.
      • Collect detailed risk and underwriting information including survey data and loss history.
      • Keep informed of industry developments through review of trade press and by attending insurance carrier training meetings on new products, etc.

      6. Perform other specific duties and projects as assigned by agency management.

    SKILL AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

    1. Four- year degree from an accredited college or university and/or three years or more of successful business-to-business sales experience at one company.
    2. Have a license in good standing or the ability to obtain a license.
    3. Minimum of 3 years insurance experience including strong knowledge of insurance terminology, concepts and coverage preferred.
    4. Ability to negotiate.
    5. Ability to solve practical problems; deal with concrete variables in situations; and to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
    6. Ability to communicate orally and in writing with others to explain complex issues, receive and interpret complex information.
    7. Ability to read, analyze and interpret industry periodicals, technical procedures and governmental regulations.
    8. Familiar with Microsoft Office and Agency Management Systems; ability to adapt to changes in technology.
    9. Ability to utilize social media marketing sources, as well as, traditional marketing sources.
    10. Ability to set priorities and perform multiple tasks.
